Day 79 - 84!

Wow!

In between the days of Day 79 - 84, a lot has happened that I got so caught up by it that I didn't put aside time to update my Body-for-Life(BFL) Blog.

I'm really busying myself with my Internet Marketing(IM) project(s) that even though I still go for my daily workouts, I fall behind on updating my blog. Sorry guys!

So have I reached my targeted goal of 10% BodyFat(BF) and nicely cut body?

Honestly, no. BUT I am pleased with myself that I hace dropped my BF to 19% from a previous reading of 22%. YEAH!

Even though I go to the gym reegularly and teach BODYCOMBAT(BC), I still have quite a lot of fat on me.

Still, I am pleased with myself for having acheived 19% even though I missed a whole month of weights training in August (thanks to a new job) and a really demoralized mindset!

A lot of what I've learnt from my BFL#5 is that a lot of it is a mental game. A game of determination! If one is VETRY DETERMINED to acheive anything worthwhile in their lives, they MUST have the DESIRE to acheive it. Otherwise, it is just a goal they set for themselves and they keep telling to themselves that they would like to acheive it and then they don't do anything REAL and SPECIFIC to acheive it.

That's what happened to yours truly (me) and that I realize that it is a pattern that I have for many things.

I really want to acheive the body of my dreams and that is just one of the goals that I have set myself. There are other goals that I have set out to do and I'll probably discuss it in another blog.

Foe now, my BFL#5 has drawn to a close and someone might just ask: Does that mean that I'm going to stop training at the gym and start slacking off?

HECK NO! For now, I am interested in going for BFL#6 and that I am still consistent with my eating plans and training regime.

Next BFL#6, I am going to do something different. Bill Phillips who came up with the BFL concept says that for anything to succeed, one MUST plan ahead! So, that is what I am going to do. I'll start a new BFL#6 with the plans of what I want to do for the week and how I am going to acheive it. I'll also plan out my meal plan. I'll most likely chart my progress thru the next 84 days with proper charts and the whole work!

Before I do that, I'm going to dig out the templates that I used to use for my previous BFL and post them up on the BFL Blog.

Yeah! I feel excited already!

To success!

Day 78!

Day 78!

That's 6 more days till the end of my 12 Weeks BFL Cycle #5!

Am I looking forward to reveal my new awesome looking body? Now with more muscle mass and lower Bodyfat(BF) percentage? I know that my goal for this BFL Cycle is to drop my BF % to 10%. And that is something not easy.

Last Saturday, Day 76, I was unable to post so I want to take today's opportunity to state that I went for my first J.C. Boxercise class at Bugis, 3:50-4:50pm. It was a pretty good class and I wish that it was longer so that I can work out harder and break out lots of sweat.

The class is good because after that, I had some sore arms and shoulders. And I still went for a BODYCOMBAT(BC) class at 6:50pm-7:50pm because I REALLY wanted to workout TONS of sweat.

I felt really "knackered" after BC. Perhaps it was a really hot day on Saturday and that after JC Boxercise, I went over to the office to pick up my stuff. It was a silly thing that happened because after picking up everything that was important to me, I walked back to the MRT station and then I forgot the power supply for the camera and decided to walk back. That whole trip costed me a lot of time. I felt that I wasted a lot of time and then I had to rush back to the gym to catch the 6:50pm BC class at Orchard.

I was quite enraged because I didn't want to take another day to go back to the office again. I was late for the BC class but I had a good workout. I was pushing myself 100% and was huffing and puffing at the end.

Sunday, Day 77! was the first day of Ramadan and I was expected to fast from sunrise to sunset. At 5:00-6:00pm, I had to teach a BC class. That was quite a hard class to teach. Maybe bacause I was fasting.

Today: I am quite pleased with myself that even though BFL#5 was not consistent because of the whole month of August where I didn't do any weight training and I was only doing BC classes because I had to teach them.

After BC class on Saturday, I had a chance to put myself on the California Fitness Center's Body Compostion machine to get a report card on my body.

My bodyfat is 19%!

When I saw that I was quite happy because the last time I had a BF test, I had 22% BF. Now I am at 19%. Not at the 10% that I wanted but I am happy. At least I know that I am slowly losing my BF.

I know that I can do better because i still have the habit of late night snacking of biscuits and chocolated albeit small portions.

I must concentrate now so that I can loose more BF and gain more muscle.

My overall body report card states at 83 out of 100 points. And that is good.

Today, I'll be doing upper body weights workout and then tomorrow I have a BC class to teach. So that will be my Cardio Routine for tomorrow.

Cheers! =)

Day 75!

Ok!

Today taught a 45 minutes BODYCOMBAT class and I had a pretty good breakfast of a mug of coffee with HL milk and a mug of 3-in-1 cereal + 1/4 milk so that it is not too hot to drink.

The cereal was a little too sweet and it gave me the carbs I need for the morning.

Before the BC classs, I had a mug of coffee and a mug of protein drink to givee me the energy for the class. The class was good and I felt that I was in tip top shape!

It is different teaching a class and doing a class because whhen teaching, it gives me the excuse to stop for a while to check on forms and/or to show proferly the proper stance etc.

Lunch was not so clean(fried chicken+2 servings of vegs+fried tempe) and I was really hungry that I felt that the intake is justified because i had a pretty good workout. Anyway, I wanted something that can hold me up will dinner at 8:00pm.

Tomorrow, I plan to do JC Boxercise in the afternoon. The day after tomorrow is 29/30 days of fasting!

Cheers! =)

Day 74!

Fuwah!

Today is Thursday and I missed posting for 5 days and Day 70! was a SUNDAY! What happended?

Usually people have more time for themselves on a Sunday right? Well, for me, I had to clean my room just like a teenager because my parents says so. Duh!

Anyway, Day 70!, I planned to go for JC Boxercise at 11 plus but I was kinda feeling like Saturday where I had bacck pains. So instead of me putting more strain on it, I rested another day. Plus, the next day, Monday, I had J.C. Boxercise.

Yeah, Day 71 and 72 was doing JC Boxercise training from 9:00am - 5:00pm. I'mm going to be CFC Singapore J.C. Boxercise instructor. Cool eh?

You can find out more at: http://tinyurl.com/gdunl

I made the link shorter so that it won't occupies space.

On Day 72, I also did BODYCOMBAT at 12:10pm. 45 minutes class and, yeah, good workout.

Day 73, Wednesday, I decided to give myself a break because of the intense J.C. Boxercise training. Plus, I also felt like the back pain was still there. So i didn't want to make it worse so I took a break.

Day 74 that is today, I spent my time doing a lot of work in IM and I am making headway. Everyday, I feel like I am moving closer to my goal. I am getting leads and I am going to work with them.

Later, I'll be teaching BODYCOMBAT at the National Library at Bugis and I want to teach it hard because I feel that I need a good workout.

This week is a lot of cardio workouts and a little strength training because of J.C. Boxercise. No REAL weights this week and I plan to do so next week. I am going to see if I can do a J.C. Boxercise class on Saturday and Sunday. So that I get more used to the training formats.

Tomorrow, Day 75, I will be teaching BODYCOMBAT. I'm putting this just in case I can't post tomorrow.

Cheers! =)

Day 69!

I woke up with a back pain!

Now this is GREAT news and some of you may be wondering why am I happy about this?

This is because I have not had a back pain for a year plus. I used to be on my back writhing in pain or suffering from several periods of back pain. Now, I only get them once a year or never at all.

The story is similar to many people who suffers from back pains and I have found ways in preventing myself from getting it often. My strategy is to stop sleeping on my front side and to sleep sideways more often with a pillow between my back.

Also, good posture whilst lifting up things is also a must!

So no training today? Yeah. For sure.

A good training schedule should include rest time because of injuries. This is an event for me so I am taking today off even though I had wanted to go and do JC Boxercise for the first time.

Yeah, JC Boxercise. I have done something similar at BXG Fitness where I did basic Muay Thai training. It's where you would be punching bags and do partner work, sparring with each other.

The thing is that I am going for JC Boxercise Instructor course soon so I wanted to get myself into a usual class and get a feel about what it is all about.

So today is REST DAY for me and I am going to use it doing more Internet Marketing stuff.

Cheers! =)

Day 68!

Alright!

Today, I managed to get up at 5:00am, even though I slept pretty late: 1:00am ish. I was busy with my IM project(s).

And I am very pleased with my 7:00am class compared to last weeks where I mucked up quite a number of time. I think that if Wai han finds out about this, I'll be in trouble.

I guess it is because I didn't get any complaints from the members as I think they know that I am relatively new and they are quite forgiving. However, I still see the usual members not there. So what eh? At least today, I got a lot of members who are pleased with me and I get a lot of positive feed back.

I believe that I can do a new launch solo and that I should go through the tracks and get physically accustomed to it rather than theoretically competent. I believe that that will need me go to the studio in CFC or somewhere to practice several times until I get it right.

Later at 1:00pm I'll have another BC#29 class and I believe that I'll be able to pull off another EMPOWERING class like this morning. The weather has turned a little wet now and I hope that it will ease up in a while. I'm leaving the office at 12:00pm so that I have roughly 1 hour headstart.

Today's morning meal was a RTD Chocolate Muscle Milk (yummy!!!) and brown rice meal. That should make me full for a whole until the end of the 1pm class.

I am so looking forward to the 1:00pm class later!

Cheers! =)

Day 67!

Wow! How time flies.

I had just finished a meeting with a buddy of mine and I had like 2+ hours to go till my next appointment. So I thought that I must as well use the time to clear some emails and do some IM stuff etc.

Then suddenly, I looked at the time and I have another 30 minutes left!

Wow!!!

So today I didn't do Cheslyn's 7:00am BC class because I thought that I needed the rest because of yesterdays Weight Training. Muscles needs rest in order to grow properly you know?

So later at 6:30pm, I'll have my HPS Fitness @ Work jig where I'll take that time to do my Cardio Routine.

Today's meal is not as clean as yesterday as I ate a deep fried popiah and a slice of brownie. Then I had Malay rice that had Cow's lungs. Animal's spare parts are considered to have the higer fat content compared to their meat portions.

I expect todays workout to be good.

Tomorrow's will be a double BC class to teach. I hope that I don't muck it up like last week AND get to get up at 5:00am!!! I'm kinda worried that I have been lazy this week to get up at 5:00am and go for a workout. I hope that this doesn't happen tomorrow.

Cheers! =)

Day 66!

Hi All,

Again! Today I couldn't get up at 5:00am for BODYCOMBAT at Bugis (KC). I hope that this is not a trend. Actually, I did wake up but I was too lazy to get up and go!

Anyway, I did do my 2nd Upper weight training today. I didn't do legs. I was too afraid to get too much DOMS that it'll affect my BC teachings.

Lunch was at CFC Cafe with Muscle Milk and Brown Rice combo.

I hope that tomorrow I can get up at 5:00am for Cheslyn's 7:00am BC class. I just want to do some cardio tomorrow. Other than the class that I am goin to teach at 6:30pm.

Then, Friday will be 2 BC classes: 7:00am and 1:00pm.

Wooooooo!!!!!!

Day 65!

Well.......

This morning, I was supposed to wake up at 5:00am, hit the gym for the 7:00am BODYCOMBAT(BC) by June and get to work afterwards.

BUT.....

I couldn't get up.

I must stop myself from going doing too much on my Internet Marketing project(s) because I am sleeping like 12:30am and 1:30am sometimes.

Even though I go thru the Neuro Linguistics Programming(NLP) of "negotiation" and "self-programming", i just coundn't get up early.

Perhaps, I am not putting it across as something that I HAVE TO DO IT or DESIRE TO DO IT so that it why the subconcious just didn't want to let me get up at 5:00am.

However, if I have a 7:00am BC class to teach, I somehow could get up and hit the gym at the right time.

My calling back on what had happened thins morning was that I did get up BUT I just went back to sleep because I was aching all over. This was because of the Weight Training that I did after almost one month!!!

So, instead of succumbing to my lateness and proceeding to work, I changed plans and head on off to the gym for 10:30am BC with Suhaimi. I think that today's decision is something good because I have been putting off my trainings for too long last month that my fitness went awry.

I don't intend to do this way of going to the gym no matter what because work is being affected and I bet that Nick will be upset one day.

Anyways, depending on how long I can keep up to this attitude, I am actually quite pleased with myself because i am getting my daily training on schedule. It is just that I am not doing it early in the day so that I can get to work on time.

Now it seems that if work and gym time is placed before me, I seem to be choosing gym time over work time.

Anyway, I am also going full steam ahead for my IM projects that by the end of this month, I am targetting USD$1, 000.00 of sales.

I am going to follow the Pay It Forwards For Profits 30 days programme and Digital Keiretsu's programme at the same time. And there is also the other one: Secret Affiliate Weapon that I have been putting on the back burner for awhile.

So, tomorrow is Wednesday and like my usual Wednesdays, it is supposed to be Legs Training Day! I am dreadding it already because I am afraid of getting too much DOMS(Delayed Onset Muscle Strain) that I would find doing BC moves like jump kick and back kicks painful.

I guess I'll be doing it relatively lightly.

Cheers! =)

Day 64!

ALRIGHT!

This time I manage to get to post a blog without skipping a day.

Anyways, today is quite significant because I was up at 6:00am BUT I went back to my "old self" of self pity and went back to sleep after doing my morning "prayers". Then, I woke up at 8:00am and wanted to go back to sleep. But, a voice in my head spoke and I realized what an idiot I will be if I don't do something today.

So, I made a decision to STILL go out to the gym in the morning and do my Weights Routine as promised by me yesterday. And so I skipped work and went to the gym instead and did ann Upper body workout!

I must say that after almost a month of not doing any weights training, the body just couldn't do the usual weights so I took roghly 10% off the weights. And even that, I struggled to do 12 sets of 5-6 sets each.

BTW, my Weights workout is following the EDT method. More on this when I have the time.

Then I went to the CFC Cafe and had a good protein drink (Muscle Milk - Chocolate - RTD) and brown rice meal.

Tomorrow morning: Cardio Routine!!!

Cheers! =)

Day 63!

Hi Guys!

I think there is a kinda pattern emerging here... like I'll only post every other day. Like I'll miss an even numbered day.

Still, I think the most important thing is that I post what is important to me, rather than post something up for the sakke of posting.

Yesterday, Saturday, I wanted to wake up early and get as much things done as possible. However, the laziness bug struck annd I ended up getting up at 10:30am instead of 6:30am. Actually, I did wake up at 6:30am but I went back to sleep. I just felt like I deserve a few more hours of shut eye.

Then it struck me just now that all the talk about not over-sleeping is nothing but just talk. I am not walking the talk. I've read some reports on the internet from reliable resources that the body can take 4.5 - 5 hours of sleep daily. There is this website that publish a definitive e-book on sleeping the right number of hours. It is:

www.powerfulsleep.com

Anyways, yesterday, I got up and spent sometime on my IM business and went to the gym to do a 1:50pm-2:50pm BODYCOMBAT class by Roger. Roger used to teach in Hong Kong when he was stationed there and now he is back here for good and is starting to teach his own classes. He is pretty good. Good form, good looks, good instructions. We did the BC Instructor course together rightly 2 years ago. We were both trained in BC#17 in in the Instructors Course.

So, like I mentioned earlier in this blog, I am going to be doing a lot of Cardio Routines this week and since today is the last day of the week, I am looking forward to my first Weight Routine tomorrow morning after almost a month!

Yeah, I feel like my bodyfat % went up the last month and that I had better wake up my f__king idea if I want to acheive my Bodyfat goal of 10%!!!

Today, I did BC at Bugis 12:50pm-1:50pm by Darren. It was a GREAT WORKOUT because I pushed myself from the start; not pulling myself short so that I get to "burn the rubber"!!! Only thing is that I get flat during the conditioning track so I couldn't maintain the push up on toes too long.

I'm happy with what fitness training I did today and I hope that tomorrow will be just as rewarding!

Cheers! =)

Day 61?!

Hey!? Today is day 61?!

Duh!

I'm beginning to have this habit of losing track of time and all the time I thought I had posted yesterday.

Ok.... yesterday is significant because it was California Fitness Centers (Singapore) BODYCOMBAT Release 29 Launch Day!!!

Yayyy!!!

And I was with the Bugis launch group. There was me, Ayesha, Cheslyn and Roger. I'll post pictures once I get them. (Gotta get them from Roger who brought his camera along.)

The launch was OK except that I made a mistake in the choreo for the last track aka Cooldown track. I hope that my career as a BODYCOMBAT instructor in CFC is not jeopardised by this!

So, I got a pretty good cardio workout yesterday (Day 60) and had a light Chicken Rice meal yesterday. (More of the chicken and less of the rice)

Today, this morning, I taught a 7:00am BODYCOMBAT class and had another cardio routine. Then I had a good breakfast and lunch at the California Fitness Cafe.

Like I posted earlier in this blog, I will be doing a lot of Cardio Routines because of the many cover classes I'm getting as well as the BODYCOMBAT launch.

The weekend is also more cardio routines because I want to attend as many BODDYCOMBAT classes to "improve" and "practise" the new release. I feel that I did not do a lot of "preview moves" this morning that the next time I teach it, it'll be more spot on!

Next week, I plan to re-start my Weights Routine so Monday, Wednesday and Saturday is going to be weight training days. Other days will be BODYCOMBAT 29.

Cheers! =)

Day 59!?

Hey!? Did I miss posting Day 58?!

Darn!

I was on a roll yesterday doing lots of Internet Marketing(IM) stuff that I totally put off doing any REAL work in the office. The boss was out of town for a holiday with his family because of the one week school holidays. He's going to kill me if he finds out!

You guys can check out my postings on my REAL forray into Internet Marketing in:

www.aliefhamdani.com

In Day 58, I taught a BODYCOMBAT class at Republic Plaza at 7:00am. Yeah! Some of you may be wondering: "Who gets up in the morning like 7:00am to do BODYCOMBAT?"

Well, I once did when I was a member and REALLY, doing any workouts in the morning fits me perfectly because I push my Metobolic Rate(MR) up and I am burning FATS earlier in the day; and the human body naturally have a higher MR in the mornings than the later part of the day. So I get to have optimum burning fat rate throughout the day.

After the cardio workout, I got really really hungry and got tempted into eating a BIG breakfast at Burger King because I had to do something at the Starhub office that was just next to the Burger King restaurant.

After that, I didn't get hungry until 3:00pm in the day. I guess it is because of the BIG breakfast and also the cup of coffee that I drank during lunchtime.

Hmmm.... I think that it is true that Cofffee does work like an appetite surpressant.

Again, it could also be the fact that I got so FIRED up with my Internet Marketing(IM) business that I forget to eat! (Hmmmmm.......)

Okay, today is Day 59 and I'll be teaching a BC class later at 6:30pm.

Not the usual morning workout that I usually do and I almost wanted to get up early to do a 9:20am morning BC class and what happened is that I wanted to get lots of things done in the day that I went to the office to do work. (Do more IM work, really!)

Doing a 6:30pm class is not bad as one would get the chance to burn the fuel(lunch, tea, etc) that one packs in the day. And usually after an evening workout, the body would go thru a repairing stage more readily because one would have dinner and go to sleep soon after isn't it?

I'm going to watch what I eat today. Like yesterday, I plan to eat steamed chicken pau and drink coffee and drink lots of water.

Cheers! =)

Monday, September 04, 2006

Day 57!

I almost went thru the day without a workout. I should have gone to sleep early last night but the Internet Marketing drive was ON and I could not put it away until I did as much as I could last night. I went away a little bleary eyed.

Tonight, I can't sleep late because tomorrow morning I'll be teaching a 7:00am BODYCOMBAT class. So I plan an early night for me. I'm feeling sleepy already.

So I did a BC class as a Cardio Routine today. I think this week I'll be doing a lot of Cardio Routine because of BC Cover classes and BC#29 launch on Thursday. I'm really nervous with that one because I have not fininshed learning all the choreos.

Cheers! =)

Day 56!

I've gone through 56 days of the 12 weeks BFL programme and I have 30 days left to go.

Honestly, it has not been very good as I have faltered on my eating as well as my exercise regime. If you look at my journal, I have stopped writing my activities since 1st August 2006 because that was the first day of me going back to working 9-5pm as an employee for this company called Media Architects Pte Ltd.

Suddenly, my usual training regime had to change and I also had more BODYCOMBAT(BC) class to teach.

I did not mind more BC classes to teach and the one that made me falter was the 9-5 work. I was feeling very mixed about the work in Media Architects(MA) because the pay package based on commission is better compared with my own business. I felt like getting the job in MA is like a prayer answered and I took it on with determination.

I realized that I put myself in a difficult position because I had little knowledge and experience doing Technical Sales for MA products. However, I went ahead with it anyway because I felt that the discomfort doing it is stretching me and making me grow. I felt that it was good for me to work for MA because there is good learning experiences from it and I know that if I were to feel uncomfortable doing something, I am doing something right.

However, I have no passion selling MA's products. The only thing that made me want to get up and go to work is the money. And it is making me feel very very unhappy.

So far, I have been in MA for a month and I have not closed any sales. I still get a stypen and it is not a lot of money.

If I were to list out the positives and negatives of my experience working in MA:

Positive:

• The job pays well. I can earn more money when I close more deals.
• I earn a monthly stipend for the 1st 3 month until I can earn enough from commission sales.
• I have a great boss who does not stop me from doing my BC teaching.
• He supports me by helping me with the technical knowledge of MA products.
• The workplace is 3 minutes walk away from the Buona Vista MRT Station and I don’t have to change MRTs to reach there. It is one straight 45mins train ride from Simei MRT Station to there.
• I work in a comfortable office with great amenities like:
o Air conditioning comfort
o Free internet access (wired & wireless)
o Free hot and/or cold water dispenser
o I have my own table
o Eating areas that is closeby
• I have a “boss” who goes out with me for lunch together.
• I get to learn new technologies concerning Audio and Video technologies and how to apply it to Video production and post-production houses.
• I have a great “boss” who doesn’t scold, speaks to me with calm and patience.
• I don’t get scoldings or naggings from a worried mother who thinks that I don’t have a well paid job prior to working for MA.
• I get to meet and speak to all sorts of people. Improves my NLP skills.
• I can still run my Alief I.T. Services business.
• I’m employed or in the workforce.

Negative:

 I am not really enjoying what I am doing.
 I feel lost when I am at work.
 The learning curve is relatively steep.
 This job doesn’t align well with my passion of leading a healthy lifestyle.
 I feel like I am dragging myself out of bed whenever I am going to work.
 I miss being able to go to the gym at a more comfortable time.
 I am not able to eat properly.
 I have less time to pursue what I really enjoy doing:
o Internet Marketing
o Workouts at the gym at anytime I want
o Doing more BODYCOMBAT (cover) classes

Now, the question is, am I going to continue doing this or should I do something else?

The quickest answer that I can give now is:

“Yes, I should quit and do something that I am very passionate about.”

One of the concept of being a rich and successful person is to do that thing that one is very passionate about and to do it so that many people gets the benefit without having to focus on the money because the money will come eventually; and that the person will want to continue doing it even when he/she has become rich and successful doing it.

Example, Tiger Woods is not a multi-millionaire because of the game of golf that he started playing when he is a young boy and he still continues playing golf because he loves the game. He is not retiring yet even though he has enough money to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, with whomever he wants, however he wants, wherever he wants; as long as it is ethical, moral and legal.

The same with Michael Jordan who loves basketball so much that even when he retired rich and successful, he went back playing for the Rockets!

Looking at the negatives, I think I can get rid of some of them like “not being able to go to the gym” and “not being able to lead a healthy lifestyle” etc. Like I can still go to the gym if I am disciplined to get up at 5am to hit the gym at 7am and then go to work at 9am. I can still do that. I did that before and I can do that again.

I can still watch what I eat by choosing more healthier foods and watching my portions.

I believe that my problem(s) is the work that I feel is hard. However, I only have to ask my “boss” for help to understand that technologies and the rest is ‘on-the-job-training”.

I believe that my problem here is my attitude to adjusting myself to a relatively new environment. I believe that I should be happy being able to get myself into something like this because the learning experiences is priceless.

If I still want to pursue my passion, I still can.

So, people, what I am going to do is to hang in there for awhile and adjust myself as needed so that I am successful in this career path of Technical Sales in MA.

Yes, I faltered in my BFL programme but I still have 30 days more to go so I should not quit it and continue with it. If within 84 days I didn’t get my 10% body fat goal, I can still pursue it another 84 days, isn’t it?

So, today I did not do any workout because I was feeling really depressed with myself as to why I am not Financially Successful yet. I spent the whole day sleeping my life away. I really got to do something about this attitude.

At least now, I am working on a PC project for my own business that should earn me SGD$95.00 once it is complete.

Tomorrow, I am committed to go to the gym to do BODYCOMBAT at 10:30am.

Cheers! =)

Day 23!

Monday, 31st July 2006 (Day 22!)

Like most Monday's, I usually do 12:50pm-1:50pm BODYCOMBAT at California Fitness Gym, Orchard; led by instructor extrodinaire: Suhaimi. And unlike other days, I was chosen to "cover" his class; ie to teach it rather than to participate as a member.

So, what happened was I woke up a little later on Monday's as usual and I decided to do some weight training (Assisted Chin-ups) and then teach BODYCOMBAT. So it went that way for Monday + I had a nice chat with Cathelin who, with me and the other BC "warrioirs" did Saturday's BODYCOMBAT demo for the whole of last Saturday afternoon.

She is such a nice girl (and has a really great body). It must be because she works out well. You can check her out at http://www.friendster.com/nitecherub

Tuesday: I missed my weight training. I believe it is because I am settling into my new job at Media Architects Pte Ltd and that I was not sure how fast I could finish up my BC routine and weight training that I simply did BC only.

It looks like I may have to go back to quasi BFL programme of 1 day cardio + 1 day weights + 1 day cardio etc. Boo hoo!!! I'm going to miss doing BC everyday.

Well, as how most NLP practitioneers would do, "look on the bright side".

Tomorrow I'll be teaching BC at HPB, Fitness @ Work, Riverside Promenade at 6:30 with Ayesha. I love teaching the people there because they are the normal public and behaves very enthusiastically.

So, tomorrow no weights training and only cardio. Thursday is weights training day I think.

Cheers! =)

Day 21!

Wow! How time passes when you ignore it!

Depending on how you look at it, my lack of postings may look like either I am lazy to put up something new or there is nothing new to put up or that I have so much to do that I have not find the time to put up something new.

From the way I see it, there is all the reasons above and also none. And as part of NLP training, I am taught that there is no right or wrong and that there is only what is "Useful" or "More Useful". And that everything is a "learning experience".

What has happened between day 11-20 is that I went up to Seremban over the weekend to meetup with my Significant Other Half(SOH). And that I went with her to do the "Khursus Rumah Tangga".

This is a 2 day weekend course that is needed by Malaysian marriage law that I MUST go through before I can proceed to marry my SOH.

YES! I am going to get married soon! (Yippee!)

So, when I was over there, I didn't spend time in the gym BUT i did spend time on Day 15's morning to do 15 mins of High Intensity Interval Training(HIIT) running. So, at least I did something for my BFL Programme that I didn't do anything to neglect it.

Of course there was the question of eating. When situation like going to my future-in-laws house over the weekend, there is bound to be abundant foods to eat right? Plus, my desire to eat foods like:

• Satay (Kajang)
• Roti Chanai
• Roti Telur
• Ramly Burger
• etc

So, yes, my diet did take a beating and I guess I did take more free days that what was allocated for the week.

Still, I am proud of myself because the day that I was supposed to leave for Seremban, I am happy to say that I consumed good quality protein/meal from the Gym's Pro Cafe before I head of that morning of the 21st July. I would note that I was very happy to consume a serving of Muscle Milk and Tuna Sandwich.

It was my second time drinking the Ready To Drink(RTD) Muscle Milk and the taste is superb! Like melted ice cream!

The after taste is funny though because it gave me a slight bitter after taste that lasted for a long time. Even after I sucked on some sweets.

After that, my meals was like the above list.

Anyways, after coming back from Seremban, I started my new job at Media Architects Pte Ltd.

YES! I'm back to a more steady and more paying job! (Yippee!)

And I got 3 BODYCOMBAT class to cover last week. Plus a whole day of BODYCOMBAT demo at California Fitness Orchard Gym on Saturday, 29th July. So you can imagine how much things I had to juggle.

Anyways, for the week of Day 11-20, I did a lot of cardio and managed to do 1 day of weight training for the Chest.

Next, week, I foresee another week of more cardio training than weight training. I guess that when there is something new happening to any BFLifers, there is bound to be some serious adjustment that needs to be done.

Things like:

• A road trip away from home
• A new working arrangement
• Something that causes your normal weekly routine to be adjusted.

Anyways, this is what life is all about. In NLP, I am taught to stay focused on the outcome and enjoy the journey.

"When life push you down, look up!"

Cheers! =)

Day 10! (Hello!)

Hi Y'all!

I'm just going to write a special "Hello" to some people that I have come to understand who'll be looking at my blog today and a few days later.

HELLO!

Just yesterday I was sharing with a group of people whom we've decided to meet every once a month to help and encourage each other to reach our goal of launching something significant in the field of Internet Marketing, about my passion in health, nutrition and fitness.

One of the things that we have all committed to do was to start our own Blog. I know that I have done mine and what I'll do is to help the rest to get theirs up as soon as possible.

Hmmm..... make that by the end of the month which will give the rest of us roughly 1.5 weeks to complete.

Starting out a blog is not that difficult. I am sure some of us who is "experts" in this did go through a little learning curve period and I am sure that once we all get the hang of it, it is easy as A-B-C.

Anyway, I digress from the main topic of today that is: Day 10!

Today, I am proud of myself that I get to do my weights training first and then the cardio routine later. I did lateral shoulder raises today and did a full BODYCOMBAT class.

Now, some of you may be wondering if there is a FULL COMBAT class, that means there is a cut down version?

Yes. There is actually 3 types:
  1. Full: 1 hour (roughly)
  2. Shorten: 45 mins (roughly)
  3. Even shorter: 30mins (roughly)
And at the same time, there is no such thing as the 3rd type here in Singapore. Yet.

I hear that in Japan, they have 30 mins COMBAT class:
  1. Warm up track
  2. Combat 1
  3. Power 1
  4. Combat 2
  5. Power 2
  6. Cool Down.
Or something like that. I remembered that there was Les Mills sanctioned 30mins (or was it 20mins) class and the format was something like I've mentioned.

Hmmmm..... I gotta go check and confirm.

As for my concern, I'd prefer the Full version. I bet that there are some who disagree as BFL outline that there should only be a 15mins HIIT(High Intensity Interval Training) carsio routine.

Okay.

That is why I mentioned that this BFL programme of mine is not quite BFL standard and the only thing that I follow is the 12-weeks duration from this to this.

Another thing that I alter to my training style is the Weight Training. BFL does it .... well, I'm not going to explain it in too much detail as I am only giving myself 5 minutes to complete my blogs.

Goto: www.bodyforlife.com

My weight training is EDT(Escalating Density Training). Check it out:

http://staleytraining.com/edt/

Okay. I gotta go. More from me tomorrow.

Cheers! =)

Day 9!

Yeah!

It's day nine!

I have stuck to the usual routine that is:
  • Good breakfast with protein in it
  • Weight training first then
  • Cardio routine.
  • Post workout protein drink
  • After 1-2 hours later: good proportionate lunch
  • Work routine.
  • Tea: Coffee + proportionate amount of protein
  • Dinner: Good proportionate dinner
  • Supper: Pre-sleep meal
This is my method of success that I have adopted for a while now. There is still something different about it that I'll discuss it later.

Although I have called my programme my BFL(Body-For-Life) Programme, it isn't. Really!

The only thing that is 12 weeks is that my deadline, that is by 1st September, I will be looking something like this:

Whoa!

Even the eating I find is the most challenging and if you have read Bill Phillips Book: Body-for-Life, he encourages eating 6 or 7 times a day. That is something like 1 small meal every 2 or 3 hours.

If you were to think about it, that is possible:
  1. Morning Breakfast
  2. Pre lunch break/2nd breakfast
  3. Lunch
  4. Tea time / pre dinner break
  5. Dinner
  6. Supper
I bet that there are folks out there that is doing this right now. And I bet that they are not complaining about this. And also for the folks who stringly claims that they ony eat 3 square meals a day, I bet that on occasions, they'll snack in between. (Heh heh heh....)

"BUT! Isn't this too much? Eathing like this? I'd grow FAT doing this!"

Yeah, I hear ya! If you read the previous, previous paragraph about what Bill Phillips suggests: "...small meals..." you'll realize that meals during the "big 3" should not be that huge:
  • Soup +
  • Appetizer +
  • Main dish +
  • Dessert +
  • Beverage (Tea/Coffee/whatever...)
I bet most of us are eating like this:
  • Morning: Coffee/Tea/nothing because no time to eat
  • 2nd breakie(what's that?!)
  • Lunch: Big lunch meal! (or no time to eat / eat "Old Chang Khee" = junk!)
  • Tea time (or only when the boss is not around!)
  • Dinner: Big dinner meal! (really haveta eat becos too hungry now / again no time)
  • Supper: Big super meal!! (really really haveta eat because have not eaten the whole day!)
After that, go to sleep!!!

Can you guys imagine the disaster that is happening to our bodies as we continue doing this. I am sure that there is those amongst you who don't / won't do this all the time because when the weekend comes, REALLY NORMAL eating habits may be restored.

Okay, I know that it is not my place here to advice what should be or what should not be done as there are real EXPERTS out there who can (really) advice you what to do to get that Body-for-life.

I have always mentioned Bill Phillips and his Body-for-Life programme and now, I believe that it is time to introduce to you guys the real no BS guy whom I really admire: Tom Venuto of Burn The Fat. Feed The Muscle fame. Check out his website: www.burnthefat.com

Cheers! =)

Day 8!

Today is day 8 and I would like to say that I am satisfied with what I have achieved. I believe that many people doing the BFL would agree with me that the hardest part of the BFL programme is the eating portion.

Like today, I find that when I went to the Food Court, my challenge was to find foods that were “clean”. The nearest I could find was Fish Soup with Rice, Yong Tou Foo and Rice Mix.

Anyway, for the workout portion, I did BODYCOMBAT (as usual) and did weight training after that. I did Back Training / Wide Lats Cable Pulls today because I missed doing that last week.

Overall I am satisfied and I plan to do weight training first tomorrow and then do BODYCOMBAT. So the plan is Chest Training / Bar Bell Bench Press and Cardio Routine: BC.

Cheers! =)

Day Seven!

Hmmm....

"What has happened to day 4 - 6?!", sayz a friend of mine. "You quit?"

Well, okay. I admit that I did quit BUT I didn't quit my BFL programme. I just quit the the thought of me having to put up something new on the Blog every day! Do you know how much time I have to put aside to do that?

I know that I only have to discipline myself 5 minutes a day to update my BFL Journal/Blog but I start to realize that I have been taking more time to do it.

Hmmm.....

Guys! I just realize something. I'm starting to put DISEMPOWERING words into this blog! Words like "but". And I am putting excuses about not updating it when what I have committed to do was to update this blog daily. I committed myself to make this like my REAL BFL Journal.

Hmmm.....

I guess I have to do something about this eh?

O'right! Instead of me beating about the bush not updating my BFL Blog, let me just update on what has transpired:

13th July 2006 (Thursday):

I remembered that I woke up to do BODYCOMBAT at 7:00am because Cheslyn was teaching and I wanted to have a FEEL of her class as I was going to teach it on the 27th July. I'll be going for her class again on 20th July.

Another reason for me to do her class was because I wanted to train up my body to get used to teaching more than one class a day. I may be getting my own class one day and I may have to teach more than one class per day. Also, after doing her class at 7:00am, I was doing Singapore's Health Promotion Board - Fitness @ Work programme at 6:30 - 7:30pm at the National Library, Bugis.

Yeah! I really ENJOYED the experience at thhe National Library and I really AM looking forward to the next one on the 20th July.

SO I did a lot of cardio (BODYCOMBAT) and no weights training. Even though I had slated an abs routine after BC.

14th July 2006 (Friday):

I wanted to do like yesterdays routine albeit with woeights training thrown in. And again I guess I had to listen to my body because it is the 1st week of BFL and I should ease myself into a double cardio day. At night: 8:50pm-9:50pm was a special occasion because it was my good friend and BC instructors last class here in Singapore before he goes over to New York the next day to do his Masters Degree! Way to go Li!

So again just cardio and no weights training AND after the BC Party, there was "makan" party! That means eating at Lau Pa Sat: Satay, Chicken Wings, Otak-otak, etc. (I guess free day?)

15th July 2006 (Saturday):

I wanted to do weights earlier before BC and I guess I didn't look after my time and I was late for it and I only did BC. I has the opportunity to do weights after BC and I took the time to do much needed research/updates for my Internet Marketing project. I had a good clean meal at Raffles Gym's eatery: Brown rice + 5 spices Beef + egg whites + gravied greens.

After that, it was off to AKLTG Coaches gathering at Trina's house (somewhere in Ang Mo Kio) and had junk for dinner! Potato chips, sausages, chicken wings, tuna-mayo-sandwitches, brownies, etc etc. (Darn! Another free day?)

16th July 2006 (Sunday):

So today I thought that I can go down to the gym early and do weights first and then BC later.

NOT!

It is like a pattern for this week: lots of cardio + no weights + extra cheat day.

For meals: I had a good breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Well dinner is late: 8:45pm (as usual because it is my once a week dinner time with parents) I plan to eat Beef + Mui Fan. That's kinda ok right?

Day Three.

I bet that there are some of you out there who wants to see my "BEFORE" and "AFTER" pictures right?

Heh heh heh.....

Yep.... Don't I look "cute" eh? (Muahhahahahah!!!)

Then after 2 or was it 3 cycles of BFL since year 2000, I looked like this:

Not bad eh? Well... that picture of me "flexing" my biceps was taken in 2003. Since then, I've been pretty much the same but after I got myself tested for Body Fat % level, I was shocked to find that I am at an unhealthy 24%. So, it is time for me to get down to business. My main goal is to get to optimum 10% and I am sure I'd look well with a body like this:

Yeah!!!!

Don't I look good. This is what I'll get when I've completed my BFL#5 cycle!

Cool, eh?

Cheers! =)

Second Day!

Yeah!

Today is my second day and I am committed to make sure that I post this Blog as I progress through my BFL programme.

I am excited because I met a fellow gym buddy, Rosie Phang, and she says that I look good. Ironically she asked me if I am on BFL and I just mentioned to her that I am just starting a new cycle.

Now, don't get me wrong as today is only the second day and there is already marked improvement to my physiology? Of course not!

Rosie has not seen me for many months and today she is just commenting on how improved my muscle definition is. (Actually she said that I looked good and she kept looking at my arms.) I thank her for it and explained to her that I have been consistent with my trainings and eating habits. Albeit that my eating has "suffered" lately because of the lack of DISCIPLINE!

That is one of the reasons that I want to start BFL # 5.

My main goal this year is to have a better body and that I want to target 10% body fat after this 12 weeks programme.

Of course my muscles will remain as they are (I'm sure) and that I'll still be able to improve my overall strength and stamina.

Yesterday, I posted that I item legs had a question mark. (Legs?)

Allow me to explain:

Because I am teaching BODYCOMBAT(BC) more often, I fear that my performance as an effective BC instructor will suffer because of DOMS(Delayed Onset Muscle Strain). This is a challenge to me that I want to resolve soon because I believe that there are others out there like myself who wants to train legs and yet feel strong enough to do their daily tasks.

Alright, next post, I'll be putting up my BEFORE pictures and will continue to discuss more about DOMS especially in the legs.

Cheers! =)

First Day!

Today as I write this journal will be my 1st day's entry into my 12 weeks Body-For-Life program.

Yes. I am doing it again. I think this would be my 5th cycle after many many months. I think it has been more than a year since I last did it properly. Most of the time, I still follow the fundamentals and the only difference is that my food management was not very strict.

Plus, I also did not discipline myself on doing the proper BFL documentation eg: planning what BFL actions to take for next week, what foods I will consume, what exercises I will do.

This time, it'll be different!

Today i'll be doing BODYCOMBAT only as I left the house late to do weight training. Today should have been weight training for chest & BODYCOMBAT.

My Body-For-Life regimen will be:

Mondays: Chest & BODYCOMBAT
Tuesdays: Rear shoulders/upper back & BODYCOMBAT
Wednesdays: Abs & BODYCOMBAT
Thursdays: Lower back & BODYCOMBAT
Fridays: Lats & BODYCOMBAT
Saturdays: Legs? & BODYCOMBAT
Sundays: BODYCOMBAT only / rest day

Yeah!

It appears that I am not following Bill Phillips BFL guidelines ie Weight Training 3x a week and HIIT Cardio routine 3x a week and 1 day rest/off/cheat day. This is because since 22nd June 2006, I have been officially signed on as California Fitness Centers (Singapore) Gym BODYCOMBAT(BC) instructor and I am putting myself thru a lot of BC trainings. I just want to make sure that I do the BC moves well.
